AYP Results Released by State
88.9% of Houston County Schools Meet or Exceed Standards
The Georgia Department of Education released the 2010 Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) report. Thirty-two of Houston County's 36 (88.9 percent) evaluated met AYP standards. Across Georgia, 71.1 percent made AYP in 2010.....(more)....

Student Poetry Contest Winners
Houston County students participated in a poetry contest sponsored by the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority in May. The contest was open to any Houston County student from elementary to high school. Seventeen students from six schools entered the competition. The winners in each division received a certificate and trophy, with the first-place winner also receiving a cash prize.
