Houston County Board of Education Names Dr. Richard Rogers as Next Superintendent of Schools

Dr. Richard Rogers was named the next Superintendent of Schools during the Houston County Board of Education meeting on November 12, 2024. Currently, Dr. Rogers serves as the Deputy Superintendent for the Houston County School District. He was named the sole finalist for the Superintendent position in October. Dr. Rogers will begin this role on June 2, 2025, following the retirement of current Superintendent Dr. Mark Scott.

“I am grateful to the Board of Education for their trust and faith in me to continue moving our District forward,” said Dr. Rogers. “It is an immense honor to lead and support our teachers, staff, students, and families. I’m committed to building on the outstanding foundation, community partnerships, and the many relationships we already have in place. Our students and staff truly make our District an incredible place to work each day, and I’m excited to see what all we can achieve together.”

91.2% Houston County's 2024 graduation rate outperforms the state average!

Houston County School District’s Graduation Rate Increases to 91.2%

On October 8, 2024, the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) released the 2024 high school graduation rates from around the state. The 2024 Houston County School District’s graduation rate is 91.2%, which is 5.8% higher than the state’s rate of 85.4%. The Houston County School District saw a 3.6% increase from 2023 when the graduation rate was 87.6%.

“We set a goal of 90%, and we are extremely proud to announce that we exceeded that goal,” said Dr. Mark Scott, Superintendent of Schools. “This graduation rate is significant because it is the highest graduate rate in our district’s history. Our district’s graduation rate has increased 14.4% since 2014. This achievement is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, staff, and families.”

Clinic Days - Lindsey Student Support Center 81 Tabor Drive, Warner Robins, GA

Lindsey Student Support Center Offers Monthly Clinic Days

The Lindsey Student Support Center and the Georgia Department of Public Health - North Central Health District are partnering to bring telehealth appointments to the families in Houston County. Appointments are available on a first come, first served basis.

“We are so excited to be able to partner with the North Central Health District for another project that will benefit our students and their families,” said Dr. Dana Wiggins, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services for the Houston County School District. “We know that having access to quality healthcare locally can make a big difference for our students. By offering these at the Lindsey Center, parents will have the opportunity for their child to be seen by a medical professional in a setting that is friendly and familiar. We are grateful for the partnership and know it will positively impact the families in our community.”
