School Bus Conduct
Safety is our school district’s number one priority. Our bus drivers are committed to transporting our students safely each school day.
We encourage you to meet your child’s bus driver and understand the behavior that is expected when riding the bus. Together, we can make your child’s bus riding experience a positive one!
Bus riders will refrain from:
- physical violence
- bullying
- physical assault
- verbal assault
- disrespectful behavior
- any other unruly behavior
- using any electronic devices during the operation of a school bus in a manner that might interfere with the school bus communications equipment or the school bus driver’s operation of the school bus.
- using any reflective devices (mirrors, lasers, flash cameras, or other devices) in a manner that might interfere with the school bus communications equipment or the school bus driver’s operation of the school bus.
All students, grades K-12, are instructed annually in emergency evacuation and safe riding practices on school buses. Our Director of Transportation works with school principals and bus drivers to ensure your child knows what to do in the event of an emergency on the bus.
Things to remember
The student’s parents/guardians have the responsibility of supervision until the student boards the bus in the morning and after they leave the bus at the end of the day.
Discipline
The school has the authority to discipline a student for any misconduct occurring on the way to or from school. The bus driver will notify the principal of any issues regarding inappropriate student behavior on the bus. Riding privileges may be suspended for multiple discipline referrals. In cases of bus vandalism, the student and the parents/guardians shall be held responsible.
