Thomas Elementary
Thomas Elementary School was built in 1945 on Watson Boulevard as the first public school in Warner Robins, Georgia. The school closed in 1994, and a new replacement was built (Quail Run Elementary). Thomas Elementary was named for Charles Thomas whose father was General Charles Thomas, first commander of RAFB when it opened in 1941. It is the only school named after a military person. The school which consisted of 32,783 SF was sold on October 6, 1994 for $350,000 to Fellowship Bible Baptist Church, Inc. for a private school. Macon State University plans to renovate and use the old Thomas School building for classes in 2003.
